Money

* Disclaimer: This post is very subjective and these are my personal opinions *

Different people have different perspectives on "money".

Most say that money can't buy you happiness. Is that true? Imagine waking up one day and while you are checking your bank statement etc, you saw a million dollar just got transferred into your bank account. Don't you feel happy? Even if it's just a short moment of happiness? You didn't have to work like a bull and you got that 1 million in a night. And maybe to some girls: You received money but you don't feel satisfied and you just head off to shop for all your favorite apparels and all your branded bags along with your cosmetics. Don't you feel that happiness from within? I'm sure you do.

How do we define 'rich' and 'poor'? How much money/assets must we possess in order to be called 'rich'? Again, it is really based on one's perspective. People like most of us, the average income family will call those who has cars, owned a three-storey building with an income of six digits as the 'rich' people. While those who live a day worrying about food will call us, the average incomes, 'rich'.

Can money buy everything, including happiness? Obviously not. Money can't buy you health, can't buy you oxygen and most importantly, it can't buy you time. Be it 'rich' or 'poor', all of us only has 24-hours a day. If you don't spend your time wisely, that's it. You can't even buy a millisecond.

Perhaps money can buy you organs, beautiful clothes and luxurious cars.  But, it cannot buy you life. Once a person faces death, that's it. No matter how much asset you have, you can't save that person.

Money has became something that put one's life at risk. As human-beings, we will never feel satisfied. No matter how much money we have, we won't be grateful or more than happy. We tend to crave for more, and that's completely normal. When we get a million(perhaps by lottery), we'd want more. Some might invest, some might go to the casino and some might start spending without any worry. But let's think, when you invest, you might lose them. Isn't it better to put the money in your bank and use it for emergency? When you go to the casino, yes, maybe you'd earn some but how sure are you that you'll gain profit instead of facing a loss?

Money has become something that's threatening us. Without money, you won't be able to even get a bun for yourself. Without money, you wouldn't be able to pay for electricity or your phone bill. Without money, hospitals will not provide treatment for you. It's really sad to see how the world changes.

In the olden days, money isn't something that's as important as compared to now. You could go to your nearest mini-mart and get something for yourself and even owe the owner money before returning the next day or so. Did money took our trust away?

Obviously, with higher income, you'll be able to visit those high-class restaurant and get the best service from them. With an average income, you might get looked down and you seem to lose respect as compared to those who are 'rich'. The society is so realistic.

Those who are wealthy but not so well-educated will start to be arrogant. Showing-off their branded goods bought by their parents. Hey, you don't even have money in your CPF and you haven't even started earning a single cent but you're flaunting all those things that your parents paid for? It's really shameful of them.

While those who work and get what they want for themselves would be called the 'spoiled kids', spending their parents' money. The world have turned into a super super judgmental society. With money, you gain respect. You can afford things of good quality.

Would you rather spend on the things that you need, or spend on the things that you want? People who lives in Cambodia, Africa etc.... They're begging for money just to have a filling stomach. No, they don't even get to feel how's it is like to be full. They are starving and they don't have any option. And you? After a full meal, you get yourself ice cream, additional side dishes and you might even leave those food there just because you're too full. It's really sad to see the world like this... If everyone in the world could just donate a dollar, just a dollar, to those who needs help. Nobody needs to starve, nobody needs to feel thirsty, nobody...

Rather than having branded goods, I prefer those money to be kept in my bank cause I don't know when something's gonna happen to me. When I need those money to save my life.

I'm not trying to say that we can't spend on things that we want. I'm pretty sure everyone wants to give themselves a break after working so hard. I guess most would travel and relax. That's quite healthy. You give yourself a reward for effort made for a period of time.

Because of money, people gain trust. When you own a company and live in a six-storey high building, people will trust you and invest in your company. Due to assets, families got broken up. Imagine your children fighting for your assets even before you lie in your graves next time. How sad can this be? In an article that I read recently, a man shot all his family in the house at that moment as he needed money for drugs. How will the court charge him? He's on drug, should he deserve to die? Or should he be jailed for life? It's his family lives that he took, is that a crime?

Money is just a small factor of life that you'll never feel satisfied for. Money can't buy you time that you get to spend with your family. Money can't buy you a minute for your unfinished work. Nobody should allow greed to take over their principles.
